Any company that has bought a CRM knows the scene: you open the client record before a meeting and find a name, a phone number, a tag applied eighteen months ago and a two-word note. It is not the team's fault. Filling in a CRM is pure admin, and pure admin always gets postponed.
Where the missing information lives
Almost everything you would want to know before a meeting already exists, just in three different places and structured in none of them. An agent does not need it structured. It only needs access.
What is public
- Their website
- Press and announcements
- Open roles
Your history
- Quotes you sent
- Emails
- Meeting notes
Your company
- What you sell
- Who it suits
- What you already delivered
One page, before the meeting
Written from all three, not from one
What an agent does not do
- It does not replace contractual records. The CRM stays the place where values and dates live.
- It does not invent what it cannot find — or it should not. Ask it explicitly to flag what it could not verify.
- It does not decide for you. The page is preparation material, not a pricing recommendation.
A CRM tells you what you wrote down. An agent tells you what you forgot you knew.
Terms used here
- Source of truth
- The system that wins when two records disagree. For contracts that stays the CRM or the ERP, not the agent.
- Verifiable
- A statement the agent can show you the source for. Ask for it in the instructions, or you will not get it.
Where to start
- 1Pick three clients you are meeting this week.
- 2Ask for one page per client from all three sources, with the source marked next to each claim.
- 3Compare the page with the CRM record and note what the record was missing.
